כשמדברים על קרמיקה מדברים על זמן. הקרמיקה נטועה בראשית החומרית, במעשה ובעשייה הבראשיתית. במפגש שלי עם תחום הארכיאולוגיה אני מוצאת את המראה הנצחי הבלתי משתנה שמתקיים במרחב הגיאוגרפי לאורך כל תקופות הקיום האנושי. שיירים של האדם שהיה ואכל שם, ישן, אהב, שר, צייר, קידר וגם מת שם. זהו הגנום האנושי שבסופו הותיר גם חורבן.
גם בחומר הקרמי גלומים פוטנציאליים שונים של קיום. יש בו את האפשרות להיעלם וגם את האפשרות להישאר לנצח. יש לו את הזכות להיות קיים גם אם הוא פגום ובלתי פונקציונאלי. כמו באתר ארכיאולוגי, שבמהותו מהווה שיירים של חיים שהיו, כך בעבודתי אני מבקשת לתת לשאריות החומר שנותרו בתהליך העשייה את הלגיטימציה להתקיים.
הן בארכיאולוגיה והן בחומר ישנה הצטברות מתמשכת של שכבות של פעולות. בעבודותיי, האובייקט משקף את כל תחנות הפעולה שנעשו בדרך, כך שלא ניתן להפריד בין התהליך לתוצאה הסופית, במישור הרעיוני נעשה השימור הצטברות של זיכרון ושל סיפור אישי וקולקטיבי. ההחלטה על מה שראוי להישמר ומה שראוי להימחק טומנת בחובה שאלה אתית שנוכחת בשני התחומים: במעורבותו של החופר הארכיאולוגי וגם בפעולה שלי בחומר.
